Here it is, after 6 months of suspense, drama and action...Captain Marvel Adventures #46 from 1945 and the 25th and final chapter of the landmark serial that introduced the nefarious Mr. Mind to Fawcett Comics readers and the world..."Captain Marvel and the Monster Society of Evil"!!!!! "The End of Mr. Mind"!!!!!!

Read on, kiddoes...you've earned it!

Well, they fried the little bugger. But somehow, just someway, I don't think The Big Red Cheese has seen the end of the evil little worm...hmmmm.

Oh to be a kid in 1945 and getting to vote on future comebacks of Mr. Mind and Captain Marvel serials.

And I sure would like to be in the CM Fan Club. Holy Moley, that'd be keen!!!

As I wrap up these weekly Captain Marvel serial posts and make the wish of starting fresh with something new and different here on this 1st of the new year and decade, I want to wish you all a happy new year and a clean slate to begin whatever your heart desires.

C.C. Becks world of monsters, talking animals and super-heroes was a truly unique one. I haven't said this in a while...but I really like these.

Mary had recently made her debut in Captain Marvel Adventures and Mr. Scarlet and Pinky help welcome her to her new feature in Wow Comics.

Chapter 23 - Captain Marvel and the Monster Society of Evil!

Y'know...as this cover blurb says "Captain Marvel in Washington, D.C." it occurs to me...there is a whole series of stories from the 1940's wherein The Big Red Cheese visits different cities. That might be a good series to take the place of this serial when it's all over in a couple of weeks.

Thoughts?

The only real drawback to that idea is that a good deal of the Marvel Family golden age stories I have are the same fische scans that marred this series. Stupid British!


I'm beginning to root for Herkimer in these stories...

...not to beat Cap., or course. I still want to see Mr. Mind under some 4th graders dissection scalpel.

CHRISTMAS BONUS: Here's another fun Christas Captain Marvel story from "Captain Marvel Adventures" #69. This one forshadows all those TV sitcom plots where someone promises to e in two places at the same time. Pure fun stuff.

Woohoo!!! Mr. Mind and the Monster Society of Evil make the cover!


I haven't mentioned it before...but why hasn't that gator-headed Herkimer made it into the modern age of comics along with Cap?

I think DC is missing the boat on this one.

Granted, Herkimer never managed to nab the big guy...but think of it...no bad guy ever did.
