Some 30+ years ago, as the comics direct market was a-dawning, publishers fouund they could sell their properties in forms other than comic books and have an outlet all ready for it.
Some of my favorite mainstream comics of that era were the Wolfman/Perez "The New Teen Titans", John Byrne's turn at "The Fantastic Four", Keith Giffen's work on "The Legion of Super-Heroes" and Frank Miller's "Daredevil".
I got all these bitchin', boss, cool posters about then.
I'd love to see a list of all of the superheroes and villains in the top two posters; is there anyplace I can go to find that? In the second poster I only recognized Superman and Supergirl.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I wonder why the Red Ghost is Green ? I will awake all night wondering arrgh.
ReplyDeleteThere was a time I was able to name them all (in the second poster, even their secret identities) but no more.
ReplyDeleteI know that when John Byrne did the Fantastic Four, his concept was that, nothing after Lee and Kirby left the series in issue 101 or so, ever really happened. Therefor everyone in the top poster, while drawn later, is from that era.
With the second one, a little tougher. Paul Levitz and Keith Giffen included EVERYONE from the Legion's long history in their work. This one would take some time.
My congratulations! You have the most exciting & wonderful blog for us, classic comics buffs! I especially liked the Autobiography of my much admired Allen Saunders, which I promptly downloaded to my files... BUT HOW COMES CHAPTERS 11 AND 12 ARE MISSING?? Isn't there any way to have them and complete the text? I'd be very grateful if you put those missing pages on the blog. Greetings from Montevideo, Uruguay, and... keep up the fine job you're doing! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteScuse me! Just in case... My e-mail address is cmfederici@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteLook for my full name in "Google" (Carlos MarĂa Federici) and you'll find I made a little in the comics fields years ago. I'm also a dedicated collector of the stuff, both in electronic and paper form.
Have a happy Easter!
