Virgil would also sometimes draw some extra fingers in there once in a while, he was quoted as explaining "to make up for other anatomical crimes committed." A humble master indeed.

While Virgil's eyes shifting to one side of the nose was a natural extension of the cubist and surrealist influences on him, mine are mostly an extension of my eating too much halibut.

P.S. to all you comment readers out there, Marco's Dad's restaurant was Charlie's chili in Newport Beach, CA. Coincidentally the second meal I ever ate in California, waaaaaaay back in 1986, was there. I can still taste the honey-butter!Unca Jeffyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02292248615715408243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6381342123888645002.post-28817477545997561752009-08-13T20:35:45.239-07:002009-08-13T20:35:45.239-07:00UncaJeffie, I have noticed something in your style...UncaJeffie, I have noticed something in your style that is oddly reminiscent of Virgil Partch. In some of your drawings, your characters eyes are both on one side or the other of the nose. IN his later years, Virgil would do this on purpose, just to see if anyone was paying attention.

Now, you know well anything I draw ends up looking like a truck, so this is not by any means a critique. Just wondering if you were a fan of Partch, or if you even know who he was.

On a lighter note, he and Dick Shaw did the first "portable" menus for dad's restaurant, hiding behind the moniker "Toy-Let Map Co.", as directions to the outside restrooms were on the back.

This concludes your useless information dispatch for today.Marcohttp://charlies-chili.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6381342123888645002.post-8771739748438950752009-08-13T19:08:14.236-07:002009-08-13T19:08:14.236-07:00OK, here's the newest news...
